MY LOVE LETTER TO 80s MUSIC

Len, Founder of 80sGrid

Len B / C8O
Chief 80s Officer

I built 80sGrid because the music of the 80s never left me — and I had a feeling it never left millions of others either. I also wanted to pass that passion on to new generations just now discovering Enya, Depeche Mode, Morrissey, Sade, Elvis Costello, Pet Shop Boys, Culture Club, The Blow Monkeys, Eddie Money, and of course Pat Benatar — and so many more.

What started as a personal obsession grew into something I never expected: a game that people genuinely don't want to stop playing.

80sGrid is my love letter to 80s music — a trivia grid game designed to connect and reconnect people with the songs and artists that defined a generation.

It's free, shareable, and built for Gen X, elder Millennials, and younger Boomers who came home to check their answering machine, raced to the radio to tape their favorite song, and tripped over the wire from the cable TV box. Who made regular pilgrimages to Tower Records, Sam Goody, Musicland, Camelot, or the local indie record store. Who spent weekends with gelled hair and skinny ties, begging the DJ to play Public Enemy, the Clash, or Gene Loves Jezebel at 3AM.

At 80sGrid.com, every day brings a new challenge. Every score gets shared.

"Every day, I write the book." Elvis Costello

SPECIAL THANKS

This started with a group of friends from high school whose shared love of 80s music was the original catalyst for everything you see here.

🏆

Joe Cuomo: for his skillful attention to detail and encyclopedic knowledge of 80s music and culture. The grids are sharper because of him.

🎵

Mike Tricarico: the human 80s music Wikipedia. Loves this music as deeply as anyone alive, and still plays baseball with guys half his age.

🎶

Tom Murray: endlessly supportive, and personally responsible for my lifelong infatuation with the Go-Go's and Dexys Midnight Runners.

🤝

Kevin Lamb: the statesman of our group, and a man whose favorite 80s moment may be "V for Victory" — the Villanova fight song that echoed through the gym the night the Wildcats stunned Georgetown in 1985.

💊

Dr. Richard Siegel: one of the best doctors in Massachusetts, who knows a great 80s record can cure more ailments than you might think. He also settled the debate once and for all: TDK cassette tapes were the best.

📐

Charles Goldie: one of the world's foremost probability experts. His patient tutoring in high school was directly responsible for me barely passing Calculus.

🌊

Sal: our west coast brother who somehow looks younger than his high school photos, and can tell you Jerry Grote's WAR in 1973 without blinking.

❤️

And of course, endless love and gratitude to my wonderful daughter Hannah, my fabulous parents James and Enrica, and my Duran Duran-loving sister Annmarie.
